PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION
CLOTHING
- Stick to solid colors. We want your face, your expression, YOU to stand out, not your floral or crazy pattern top.
- Make sure the the fit is right. Nothing baggy or too tight, especially in the shoulders and neck.
- Wear colors that compliment your skin tone.
- Bring an assortment of choices and I will help you to select the ones best for your portrait.
- For your business/corporate headshot be sure your choice of clothing is workplace appropriate.
- Keep jewelry to a minimum. No clunky necklaces or earrings. Keep it simple. Too busy is distracting and can date your image over time.
- You may want to bring a jacket to change up the look.
- Men...try on your choices of shirts and jackets before your session. Look out for gaps between your neck and shirt collar. It may be time for a new purchase! Lastly the seams of your shirt and your jacket should fit squarely on your shoulders.
MAKE UP
The goal is for you to look like you, just a polished-up version.
Come camera ready, both hair and makeup. We recommend you schedule a hair appointment with your regular stylist the day of your session. Some clients like to have a make-up application appointment before their session as well. We also have a makeup artist we can schedule for you at the studio before your session begins.
A few tips for women:
- Use neutral, natural tones and avoid shiny or glittery eyeshadows.
- Be sure your foundation continues from your face to you neck and décolletage and blend well.
- Trim any of those awkward facial hairs that seem to pop up every once in a while.
A few tips for men:
- Style your hair as usual (if applicable)
- Neatly groom all hair, including clean shaven or beard, nose, eyebrows and ears (my camera pics up every detail)!
